NESTON CRICKET CLUB

On the Western edge of the Wirral Peninsula, Neston Cricket Club overlooks the Dee Estuary with views towards Wales. The two storey extension fully exploits the location and provides two floors of social spaces including bars for the use of club members and for hire.

Whilst retaining most of the original structure, the work has transformed the appearance of the club building with a glazed façade that overlooks the cricket pitch and a first floor balcony that is perfect for long summer afternoons. The restrained use of materials has allowed the existing building to blend with the new rather than contrast, and provides significant additional floor area at a low cost.

The project included the construction of international standard hockey pitches with associated flood lighting.

The success of the project was recognised in the form of a Commendation in the Chester Civic Trust Awards for Design &Conservation 2010.
