RIBA Competition entry for a replacement clubhouse in the lake district. The previous clubhouse was severely damaged by floodwaters.
Designed as two single storey structures elevated above flood level using simple steel frames and pad foundations and provide early enclosure to minimise impact of weather on construction programme
External materials chosen for durability and from the region to harmonise with natural textures and colours. Heavily insulated timber frame infill with possible solar hot water.
Elevated panoramic view of lake, racing and landscape with storage space below Roof shown as elevated viewing deck and support for future PV installation.
Changing and WC accommodation can be isolated for use by campers. Extended steps connect building to lake level, provide excellent vantage point and tiers for race meeting photographs.
