ABW Architects have worked with St Helens College to refurbish part of the existing Technology Centre Building, where students develop their skills and knowledge of the Construction Industry.
ABW’s interventions were designed to raise the profile of the College in the community and change the building from being a cellular compartmented place to a light and airy space that had the potential to transform the student experience.
The new canopy structure brought character and identity to the building. Circulation routes were opened up and solid walls replaced with full height glass.
The new library space forms out of the former entrance, a three storey high space with a dramatic new stair, individual and group study spaces with enhanced IT facilities. All provide new facilities and reflect the ambitious and creative aspiration of the College to provide an excellent student experience.
